The Arabic phrase بسيط الحقيقة
Basīṭ al-Ḥaqīqa
forms part of the well-known axion of Mulla Sadra al-Din Shirazi (d. Basra
c. 1050 /1640-1) one of the fuller forms of which is "The Unicity-Simplicity of Reality
is all things (kull al-ashya')". For the Bab this philosophical theological
phrase had unbecoming monistic or pantheistic implications out of line with
the true apophatic theology of the unknowability of the Ultimate Divinity of
the Qur'an and the twelver Imams.
